Nicolas Troy Abrams, CFP®
Nicolas Troy Abrams, Certified Financial Planner®, is the founder and CEO of Opulentia, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisory firm based in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Opulentia’s mission is to design financial plans that build and sustain generational wealth. With over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Nicolas advises clients across multiple states.
He is a proud graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he earned a B.A. in Economics with a concentration in Business and African/African American Studies. He also received a Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of Baltimore in 2002.
Nicolas is a trusted voice in personal finance and a regular guest on Midday with Tom Hall on WYPR 88.1 FM, Baltimore’s NPR affiliate. He previously hosted The 1st Friday Radio Show on Radio One’s WOLB 1010 AM, which focused on economic empowerment and wealth creation, and the television show Financial Empowerment with Nick Abrams, which aired in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. He has also appeared on NPR’s Marketplace and frequently speaks at both local and national financial conferences. His insights have been featured in Forbes, Money, and The Street.
Nicolas has earned the prestigious Court of the Table distinction, a significant milestone in membership with the Million Dollar Round Table, recognizing top-tier professionals in the financial services industry.
In March 2020, Governor Larry Hogan appointed Nicolas to the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He was elected Secretary of the Board in 2021. He also served as a Director and later Treasurer of the St. Mary’s College Foundation Board, where he helped select investment advisors, oversaw performance, and contributed to shaping the Foundation’s investment policies.
His previous board service includes leadership roles with the Financial Planning Association of Maryland, the Baltimore Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, and the Society of Financial Services Professionals.
Outside of his professional life, Nicolas enjoys spending time with his wife, Leah, and their two sons, Nicolas II and Aiden.
